Gregg Smith provides the executive vision for Acuity Mobile. He has significant experience managing both public and private organizations, leading complex mergers and acquisitions, growing rapidly profitable businesses, and accelerating the health and growth of organizations.
As President of Aether System's (NASDAQ: AETH) multi-national Enterprise Division, Gregg led the successful divesture to Telecommunications Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: TSYS) which industry analyst "Frost and Sullivan" voted the Most Strategic Acquisition of 2004. Gregg led both the post divestiture integration activities and managed the resulting division.
As President and corporate officer of Aether's Enterprise Division, Gregg managed business strategy and development, sales, software development and operations. He was a driving force behind corporate strategy, with an emphasis on revenue growth and new market penetration and was instrumental in Aether mergers, investments and acquisitions plus in constructing Aether's business units, including transportation, government, m-commerce, education and enterprise. He also secured multi-million dollar contracts with Sun Microsystems, Sharp Electronics and EDS and managed relationships with hardware manufacturers, systems integrators, wireless carriers, and independent software vendors.
Prior to Aether, Gregg was President and COO of Karch International, Inc., a software company, responsible for sales, marketing, software and web development, finance, investor relations and strategic planning. During his tenure, he directed a successful and profitable restructuring effort and sale of the company. Gregg also served as Vice President for Nurad Technologies, Inc., a wireless hardware manufacturer and products. He assisted the company in reaching profitability and negotiating sale to a public $2 billion British entity.
Gregg sits on the board of advisors of a number of private companies and is a frequent industry speaker. Gregg is a member of the MMA Global Marketing, Mobile Banking and Proximity Committees.
Alan Sultan oversees day-to-day operations and is founder of Acuity Mobile. He is an experienced executive/entrepreneur in the diverse worlds of information technology, publishing, new media and international business development.
Most recently, as President of Knowledge Resource Center, he was responsible for recruiting a world-class team as well as securing blue chip clients including General Motors and IBM. Additionally, he oversaw the complete redevelopment of the company’s technology to accommodate a modular architecture that permitted simple customization and integration into client systems. Prior to this, he was Senior Vice President and a board member of publicly traded KnowledgeMax, Inc. which he co-founded and where he developed strategic partnerships and major clients including IBM, Marriott, Pearson, Thomson, UPS and Deutsche Bank plus participated in the sale of the company to Sideware Systems.
Chuck Rieger architects the company’s technology strategy as the author of Acuity Mobile's patents and other intellectual property.
Prior to Acuity, he founded and served as CTO of three technology companies, including Image Machines Corp. (subsequently merged to form eQuorum Corp.), where he was the architect and designer of a three-tier, web based, enterprise-level document management product used by such companies and organizations as BNFL, Boeing, NASA, Puget Sound Energy, The New York Times, and Disney. Prior to IMC/eQuorum, Chuck co-founded Vidar Systems Corp., which developed engineering document scanners and related software products, and which came to be recognized as one of the two worldwide leaders in large format document scanners. Prior to Vidar, he co-founded SCION Corporation, a leading designer and manufacturer of early PC graphics hardware and software. Chuck has a Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence from Stanford University, was a professor at the University of Maryland and M.I.T. (visiting), and served with Carl Sagan on NASA interplanetary space exploration panels.
Barry Glick is a Founder of Acuity Mobile and previous CEO and Chairman of MapQuest.
Most recently, Barry was the CEO of ObjectFX, Inc and Webraska SA, two companies at the forefront of location-based services. Prior to Webraska, he served as CEO and Chairman of MapQuest, where he led the company to a market-leading position in web-based mapping solutions. MapQuest executed a highly successful IPO and was eventually sold to AOL/Time Warner. Barry founded MapQuest in 1994 by leading a spinout from RR Donnelley. Barry has a PhD in Geography from the State University of NY (Buffalo) where he specialized in applied spatial analysis and modeling, and a master's degree in Policy Planning and Regional Analysis from Cornell University.
Doug Stovall is Vice President of Sales at Acuity Mobile. He manages all direct and channel sales activities. He has worked in the software, mobile and wireless industries for 16 years. Most recently, he ran Telecommunications Systems’ (NASDAQ: TSYS) Mobile Asset Management Division. Prior to that he held multiple positions at Aether Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:AETH ) and Xpedior, Inc. (NASDAQ: XPDR).
Doug holds a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in Organization and Operations Management from William Carey College and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi.
Eric manages Acuity's development and production infrastructures, supervises the company's developers and technical project managers and participates in the strategic planning process for Acuity's technical solutions.
Prior to joining Acuity, Eric was the Chief Technology Officer for Proteus, Inc., where he led the company's team of developers and engineers in designing and creating innovative mobile marketing solutions for large companies. His clients included carriers and media brands such as AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, HBO, Fox, Disney, Univision, and ABC. He has engineered high-volume mobile campaigns for American Idol, the Olympic Games, and numerous other live television events.
An enthusiastic serial entrepreneur, Eric also co-founded and served as Managing Partner for USWeb/CKS's Washington, DC practice, where he handled the oversight, operation, management and strategic direction of the division bringing in over $15 million in revenue annually.
Eric received both his Bachelor of Science in Audio Technology and his Master of Science in Computer Information Systems from American University in Washington, DC.
